Back
to School
It's that time of year again where the
we are picking out our outfits the night before, the lunch bags are packed and
waiting by the door and as excited as we are for all the new friends we will
meet, we know that means new germs are also on their way...
But instead of being fearful, we now
feel empowered!!! We have steps and plans in place that help our family be
proactive about our health and let us focus on all the fun instead of the funk.
What does this mean and how can you do the same for your family? While it is
easy, it does take consistency. So here is what our family does that we have
found to be a game changer in our household.
First, we must start with Thieves.
If you are not familiar, Thieves
Essential Oil is a powerful blend of Clove, Lemon, Cinnamon Bark, Eucalyptus
Radiata, and Rosemary essential oil known for its cleansing properties and
smells like the holidays! And rumor has it, in France during the 15th century
Black Plague crisis, thieves would sneak into graveyards to rob the dead and
dying. Legend says they protected themselves by creating a special aromatic
combination composed of clove, rosemary and other botanicals and that the exact
combination was divulged by the thieves who were caught in order to gain
immunity for their crimes. But not only did it give them immunity then, but it
continues to do so to this day when applied either topically, taking internally
or diffused as it kills up to 96% of airborne bacteria when it is.
So for our household we choose to opt
into all three. We create Wellness
Roller bottles specifically diluted for all members of our family and
roll on our feet and spine every night and morning before we head out
for the day to reinforce our systems. We then add Thieves to our diffusers
every night along with our favorite sleepy blends to help our bodies restore
themselves while they are at rest. We will also make Thieves wellness tea or
simply place a drop of Thieves vitality oil under our tongue at the very
first twinge of something coming on.
Next up, we Thieves the house! We have
ditched every cleaning product we ever previously used for one simple Thieves
Household Cleaner (minimalists rejoice!) and carry the Thieves Waterless Hand
Sanitizer wherever we go including clipping one on to the girls' backpacks to
use throughout their day and share with friends.
Then, when continuing our morning
routine, we make sure we reinforce our internal wellness with a
nutritious breakfast (ok, sometimes not so nutritious... you know those
mornings!). But we make up for any lack of nutrition by bribing the girls
to complete their breakfast timely (why do they insist on eating so slow?!?)
with NingXia and then pack their lunch with their favorite "pixie
stick", our beloved MightyPro.
We then rush into a twirly cotton
(read: easy to wash) ensemble, throw their hair into ponies and spritz with
our School Hair Don't Care Spray because nobody has time to comb for
nits.
We will also roll on either our
Unicorn roller or Tummygize roller if needed for any back to school
butterflies, say our daily affirmations and head out the door playing our
current favorite morning jam music as we go - right now they are loving the
soundtrack from the movie "Leap" and Carly Rae Jepson and Demi Lovato
are all the "girl power" we need as we start our day.
Finally, during our first day of
school, we also like to include a few gifts to help break the ice for the
girls. We do a traditional teacher gift but the girls also like to pass along
the gift of wellness to each of their new friends. Not only does it help our
girls introduce themselves but it has the added bonus of helping their new
friends avoid missing days at school or highly anticipated play dates. The kids
LOVE these and it makes the first day of school have the same excitement as
Valentine's Day!
